Overview

With this addition to the configuration in the settings you can modify the email systems, credit card types, pager types and phone types. You can remove existing entries, add new entries and define a entry as default value.

In addition Services will modify the way of generating phone numbers in tree points:

1. You can specify the character(s) to insert between phone number and extension.
2. For the usage of phone credit card you will have extensive settings.
3. You can define several telephone providers. The one which is the cheapest at the moment will be selected automatically for dialing.

Installation

Please make a backup first. It's always a good idea to backup your device before you install a new program. Even if we have tested all of our programs very intense, because of the variety of existing programs and system configurations no one can guarantee that no problem will occur.

Tranfer the Services.pkg file to your Newton OS device by using an appropriate package installation program, like NBU, NCU or the Newton Package Installer.

After installing you will find SBM Services in the extras folder "Settings" under "Prefs.". Possibly you have filed 'Prefs.' in another folder.

Operation

Please select the desired service from the preferences roll.

Troubleshooting

• Please not that the preferences roll is scrollable by using the Up/Down arrows on your Newton device. Since some of the services are at the bottom of the list, you have to hit the down arrow first to reach them.
  
• If your Names contains phone numbers of the 'International toll free' style, please make sure that you are using this form: Prefix international of the country where the toll free number is + 0800 + the phone number byself. This will give Services the chance to ommit all the phone provider stuff, because it is unnecessary and sometimes even wrong, for these cases.
  In Germany this would be 0 for the Prefix international outgoing from Germany plus 0800 xxxxx, so it would result in 00800 xxxxx.
  We don't know if the USA will have 'International toll free numbers'. If it is, then the format should be 0110800 xxxxx, where 011 stands for the Prefix international outgoing from the USA and 0800 xxxxx is the toll free phone number byself.

Register

Before you have registered Services the program will allow only 2 telephone providers and 2 charge zones.

If you wish to test the program only, simply dismiss the registration screen by tapping the close box.

Enter your Registration Number and tap on "Register". The Registration Number will contain numbers only. You can double tap the input line to display the numeric keyboard.

To get a registration number you have to pay the registration fee of $15. You can do this online via

As note please enter the name as given in the Owner Info settings or the Serial Number as shown in the registration slip (not the one from the back of your Newton). We will send you your Registration Number per email within the next few days.
