NewtATut (Newt Application Tutorial) is an
interactive tutorial that shows how you can develop a simple application in NewtonScript
directly on your Newton using Newt. Revisions to NewtATut 1.6 (16 Feb 98) include minor
content, URL updates. Note: to avoid highlight anomalies for links split across
pages, be sure to use Newt's Cape Lite 1.6b (included) or Newt's Cape regular version 1.6b

passKeep is a complete password manager. Newton
users may store passwords to computer accounts, web sites, ftp sites and more. With
passKeep, users no longer have to sift through Notes to find a jotted down password. The
software's easy and consistent interface make password storage and retrieval as painless
as possible. Along with passwords, users may store software serial numbers to assist when
calling tech support or upgrading. New features include password change history, Accounts
information similar to Owner Info, Data Encryption and more! Credit: Sine of the Times.
SpellWorks
is a freeware tool to help Newton users check their spelling in NewtWorks. SpellWorks has
an interactive spell checker that notifies you of misspelled words as you type. In
addition, SpellWorks has an auto-expansion feature that lets you enter text in only a few
keystrokes. Credit: Foundation Systems.
Motile: From the creators of "Columbo's Mystery Capers" and
"Dell Crosswords & Other Word Games" comes the first action-strategy game
for the Newton -- Motile! The Motile demo has complete on-line help, and four sample
levels to give you an idea of what the game is like. For each maze, Moe has a set time
limit to reach the goal. The clock does not start until the first wall is placed or
removed. Once you think you've found the solution, release Moe, and hope he makes it to
the star. Credit: Tactile Systems.
Innovative Computer Solutions has announced the
availability of the first public beta release of Twerx, a NotePad to NewtWorks document
importer for the Newton MessagePad 2x00 and eMate. Newton users will find Twerx a snap --
just select Twerx from the routing menu of the NotePad, In/Out box or any text export
enabled application, and bring the data right into NewtWorks. ICS is also offering a 25%
discount off registration for those who register Twerx 1.0b1 before March 1, 1998.

This modem setup enables the Newton OS for using
the external ISDN adaptor Hagenuk Speed Dragon. Because of the large installed base of the
Hagenuk Speed Dragon - and because we are using it also :-) we have implemented a modem
setup for it. The modem setup will talk to the Speed Dragon with 115200 bit/s always. So
you must set the data rate in the Speed Dragon fix on that. As an external ISDN adaptor
the Speed Dragon has several link protocols. As the name shows up we have implemented the
PPP variant. Contact us if you are wish to use another protocol. On install the package
will add the new modem setup to the system and remove itself after that. Credit:

HyperNewt has been rewritten from the ground up
with new features, enhanced performance, and a more streamlined user interface -- all as a
result of user feedback! HyperNewt 2.51 is a revolutionary way to create and organize data
on a Newton. With intuitive interface, flexible data management controls, and powerful
linking capabilities, HyperNewt is a new window to information. Implementing
a hierarchical filing system, HyperNewt lets users create any number of folders and
subfolders to store notes, checklists, outlines, and other notepad stationery, in a
cleaner and more efficient manner. Leveraging on the Newton¹s soup data
architecture, HyperNewt can act as a freeform database for handling all types of
information on your Newton. If you store HyperNewt internally or have installed Stand
Alone's SuperNotepad, do not choose to have HyperNewt replace the Notepad app at
startup. If you have chosen to replace the Notepad app with HyperNewt, *DO NOT* make
HyperNewt your backdrop application. Opening HyperNewt will cause an alert to appear
asking you to use the Notepad app instead. HyperNewt 2.51 beta 1 added faster startup
times and fixes some bugs which occurred at startup. Betas 2, 3 & 4 continued a
round of added features and fixes. Credit: Adam Tow, Foundation Systems.
Bricks
2.0 includes many new levels and more challenging gameplay. The Breakout style game
features smooth-scrolling action (animations of 20 frames per second), a responsive
interface, and extensive animations. For those spare moments on your lunch break or those
long hours on the airplane, you'll love the challenge of Bricks! Level of difficulty may
be adjusted by the user via Prefs. Credit: Hexdump Development, Inc.
NS Basic's NewtCard helps Newton users build
small and medium-sized databases interactively, with enough functionality that for all
practical intents and purposes, they're programs (or packages). NewtCard delivers almost
all the functionality of the original HyperCard for the Macintosh on the Newton MP2000,
MP2100, or eMate 300. If you'd like to see NS Basic's NewtCard in action, their demo is
now available. Credit: NS Basic Corp.
