BugTrap 1.5 helps both developers and end users
track down the cause of program bugs and crashes. If you're having trouble communicating
with a program's tech support, just install and run BugTrap, reproduce the error, and send
the resulting created "Note" to the developer. The idea of BugTrap is provide
users a way of giving developers an accurate log of a crash occurring on their Newton.
Rather than sending the developer a backup of their Newton, BugTrap is a realistic
substitute for the developer hooking the problematic system up to NTK for debugging.
Tactile Systems believes 90% of the problems existing in packages can be fixed with the
information BugTrap provides. Read the included README file carefully before using

The MP2x00 (at least the german MP2100) will
partially scroll the close box of the preferences roll. Because there are many extensions
to the preferences roll, this problem will become common. Install this patch and the
problem is gone. (This program is not related to Innovative Computer Solutions' PrefsPatch

SBM Services, a freeware tool to help Newton

Newt'sWeather allows Newton users to access
weather information by talking to Internet weather servers via NIE. When used in
conjunction with Newt's Cape, users may view graphical weather maps. This shareware
is in beta stage and is limited to viewing Philadelphia's weather only. Registered
software is not limited. The latest version includes improved MacinTalk compatibility
and minor fixes. Credit: Serg Koren.
QuickFigure Works is the standard spreadsheet that ships with MP2000 and
MP2100 units, and features a wide range of spreadsheet capabilities as well as
import/export capabilities with Microsoft Excel (on both Windows and Macintosh platforms).
This release is an upgrade version; it will not install to the Newton device unless the
previous version of QuickFigureWorks has been used on that Newton device. The
"QFNewtWorks:donv" icon will need to be deleted from the extensions folder in
the extras drawer before installing this upgrade. The beta version expires on February 28,
1998, although Pelicanware expects to be shipping the release version by then; there is no
cost to upgrade to the new version, since its free to all users of previous versions of
the product. Check back here prior to February 28th for the final release version.

The SBM Utilities for Newton is a collection of tools primarily for
developers, but some - like Backup and Restore - are useful for everyone. Please make a
backup before are correcting any error, correct every error singly and check after
correcting if the soup/package will work properly. Please note: Even if the SBM Utilties
will be relative stable today, it's still a beta version and we need your help to find and
correct the existing bugs. Checking out the documentation before use is highly
recommended. Also available below: Icon Editor beta for use with SBM

TimeCards is an application
specifically designed for tracking time spent working with different projects. During the
development of TC rapid, efficient entry of data was the driving requirement leading to an
interface that requires 1 to 4 taps on the screen to enter Time record. When time entries
are added to TC comments can be appended as well. Credit: Volker Deffner.
The Ink Spot off line news reader includes lots
of options to customize how news is received, read, sorted and deleted. There is no
artificial limit on the number of messages to be downloaded, headers may be kept or
discarded to help save space, and messages may be brought into the Newton's Notepad.
InkSpot also includes a composition feature to help news group posters count to 10 when
needed -- messages may be replied to, edited, mulled over, and sent at a later date.

Now Newton users can use their MP to instruct
their Sony CD Changer which tracks to play. To import your CD list into CD Changer, simply
make a comma delimited text file of all the CDs, including entries for empty CD slots.
When making a Newton Book file of the names, be sure to specify the long name
"MyCDList". On first run, CD Changer 1.1 will build your CD list and save it.
After this, you may delete the Newton Book pkg. If you don't own NewtonPress to make the
Newton Book, the author is willing to generate one for you!The author credits Sanjay Vakil
of Scrawl, LLC. with the core IR for the product. Credit: Nemesis Productions.
SimpleMail is a Newton e-mail transport that lets
you send and receive messages over the internet using POP/SMTP. It uses the Newton
Internet Enabler (NIE 1.1 or NIE 2.0), so it will only work with Newton 2.0 or better. It
works with MP120, MP130, MP2000 and eMate. It's compact, taking up only 87K store space.
Best of all, SimpleMail is free! Credit: Simon Bell
PkgPopper
lets Newton users launch packages on the fly from a popup menu. Version 1.32 fixes a few
minor bugs when using the software in the MP2000. PkgPopper adds a popup menu to the
Newton MP to enable users to launch different Applications, Scripts, Books, HelpBooks,
etc. If an application which is already open is selected, it will be brought to front
without reopening. This popup menu is activated by tapping on the PkgPopper button.
Pressing on the button also allows users to toggle the backlight. Credit: Richard C. L.
