On many machines you can also simulate a total power drop out which will delete all the informations in your device without removing both, the main and the backup battery.
Using of Power Supply Properties
There are 5 tabs:
Status
- Power Supply or Status will report the actual state of the main and the backup batteries. Dependent on your Windows CE device the state will be reported as Good, Low and Minimal or in percent. While reporting the percentage for the main battery, the battery icon will reflect these changes too.
- Battery Runtime will report the remaining time to use the main battery and the maximum usage time if the battery is fully charged. On the most devices both values are Unknown.

Troubleshooting
- On the most devices for Status - Batterie Runtime Unknown is reported. This is by design of these devices.
- Not all devices have the option to switch on the backlight if a key is pressed or the screen is tapped.
- On some devices the backlight will not power off completely, it will dim instead.
- On devices with color display it is possible that deactivating of Light on Key or Tap will result in the fact that the light never goes off.
- On some devices it is possible that the settings you have made regarding the backlight will not take effect until you have make a reset.
Tip: On some devices you can open the control panel Pen and close it immediately with OK instead of a reset.
- Power off the backlight completely is regularly not possible on color devices.
- It seems that the device manufacturers has interpreted the setting for Power Off on Notify different. Some devices will power off after the specified idle time, others power off after the greater value from Device Power Off on Battery and Device Power Off on Notify.
- Some devices will power off after the time for Notify if you only switch them on without making a subsequently tap or key press.
- Disabling the power off automatic while on battery can discharge your batteries even if you have switched off the device manually. This is because the device can power on if an alert will occur. Some devices also switch on for unpredictable causes.
- It is possible that some hardware extensions will not recognize the simulated power drop as a valid hardware reset. In such a case you have to pull out all batteries to enforce a real power drop instead of the simulated one.
