No, it doesn't create a new note everytime you turn on the Newton. If you turn the Newton on and off or off and on within two seconds then the recording starts. You rarely toggle the Newton on and off this fast so it works very well. I'm still looking into ways to override the powerswitch fully so you can hold the power switch down for 4 seconds to start the recording and then just let go to stop.

PowerRecorder is based on time on and off. If you turn your Newton off then on or on then off within 2 seconds then PowerRecorder starts recording a voice note. The normal user action is not to turn your newton on and off every 2 seconds.

PowerRecorder 1.2 adds the ability to toggle the recorder using Command-Shift-R on the keyboard.

PowerRecorder 1.3 fixed a bug that turned off Newton when it should have been left on, and fixed bug that left Newton on when it should have been turned off.

PowerRecorder works like this...

1. You are driving in your car.
2. You have an idea.
3. You pull down the power switch (turns on Newton) and you pull down the power switch again (this time PowerRecorder stops the Newton from being turned off and starts recording).
4. The little Recording window is up and the next time you pull down on the power switch the recording window will close, PowerRecorder will create a new note for you with the recording, and the Newton will go back to sleep.

1. Your Newton Alarm Clock goes off at 6:00am.
2. You have an idea for a new project based on a dream you were having.
3. You pull down the power switch (turns off Newton) and you pull down the power switch again (this time PowerRecorder starts recording).
4. The little Recording window is up and the next time you pull down on the power switch the recording window will close, PowerRecorder will create a new note for you with the recording, and the Newton will go back to sleep.
