Newton Infra-red Beaming Protocol
All (at least to my knowledge?) Newton devices support point-to-point infrared beaming as a means of communication between Newtons, and sometimes other devices.

Newton Interconnect Port Specifications
New Newtons, the MessagePad 2000 and the eMate 300, have a new 26 pin connector replacing the Apple standard 8 pin miniDIN serial port on previous devices.

NewtonScript Virtual Machine ByteCode
NewtonScript (the language used by Newton devices) is an interpreted language executed by a virtual machine in a similar fashion to Smalltalk or Java. This is the definition of those bytecodes.

Configuring PPP from Linux to your Newton
The Newton Internet Enabler supports direct serial links. This is a step by step guide to configuring your Linux box and your Newton for a direct PPP connection.

Description of my lab's Newton IR Network
Using the Newton's inbuilt support for AppleTalk and the Photonics Cooperative IR transceivers, we have mobile Internet access from many rooms in the labs. This is how it works.

Notes on setting up Ethernet and TCP/IP for Helios
Helios is a cool distributed operating system which runs on (amongst other things) the Inmos Transputer. Sadly, the company which wrote it is went bust, but they made the final release freely available as they went down. The available documentation is fairly sparse, however, and setting up the Ethernet and TCP/IP servers can be tricky. Here's some notes on how I got mine working.
