Prisoners break out of cells — made of straw!

Rioting asylum seekers broke out of their cells in Britain’s biggest detention centre this week - because they are made of straw.

The interior walls at the centre in Harmondsworth, West London, became soggy when the sprinkler system was set off by fires.

This allowed hundreds of illegal immigrants to punch their way through the walls and go on the rampage, causing millions of pounds of damage.

None of the steel doors or the brick exterior walls were affected.

Politicians and prison officers last night expressed their disbelief that the centre was effectively made out of compressed straw.

Brian Caton, of the Prison Officers’ Association, said he was demanding a public inquiry. “It’s like the three little pigs,” he said. “If you huff and you puff you can blow the place down. These are very seriously violent people and they go and put them in a haystack. It’s absolutely ridiculous.”

Could they hire wolves to serve as guards?
