Freeware and Demoversions
The GPS Map demo version is fully functional but does not contain a GPS driver and the data for loading the database. Instead a circle flight above Friedrichshafen (Germany) is simulated. The demo map package contains some sample regions around Friedrichshafen, Germany.
For beeing compatible with Macintosh all files except the Map Preparation Package for Windows are stored as "Stuffit" archives. After downloading you must decompress them by using "Stuffit Expander" (for both Macintosh and Windows).
IMPORTANT:
As a Windows user you must first start "Stuffit Expander", then go to "View/OptionsOptions/More/Cross Platform" and set the option called "Save Macintosh Files in MacBinary format" to "Never" before decompressing Macintosh compatible archives!
Each archive contains documentation in Adobe Acrobat Reader (.pdf) format. You can get a free copy of Acrobat Reader directly from Adobe or your local dealer.
For installing the software onto your Newton you will need a package installer such as the Newton Connection Utilities.
As GPS Map Lite is freeware we cannot offer support for it!
If you will run into problems with making your maps or connecting your GPS and if you don't find a solution by reading the manuals, you may ask for help from other users on newsgroups such as <comp.sys.newton.misc>!
