On Line Repository for Newton Technical Specifications

Web site with copyright law information

Hi! This is the first of online technical repositories for newton hardware. Sorry it does not look so "cool" for the moment but I am pressed for time and the data speaks a lot more than any framework I could put it into. People are actually visiting though so I will do some housework.

I am uploading this information for two reasons:
1) To help persons doing repair work on the newtons
2) In hopes of someday (fat chance) being able to build my own newt. This is not as crazy as it sound since I would design a wearable thus letting me have as much space for the logic board as needed to allow hand soldering... More realistically there is the Itsy of Compaq - a home brewed PDA! But where do you get the touch screen...

Building my own newt from scratch is perhaps impossible since the voyager chipset is out of production. Any technical information on this chipset and the newton generally is gratefully recieved! Send mail to: newtontechspecs@yahoo.com

Shameless pitch If you have any information on the voyager chipset particularly or on the newton generally send it to me and I will upload (and link to your site, if you desire). My email is "newttechspecs@yahoo.com". Please send me your schematics or links since some cool newton sites are not listed in search engines (sick of navigating past helmut, wayne, olivia, and newton's apple? So am I!) Don't just mine data! Share it!!

This site linked to me, so I return the compliment!

In closing I would like to deeply thank David Humphreys (Honeywell) for providing leads and information that made it possible to build this page in the first place. I also want to thank the engineers (in reverse alphabetical order) at Sharp, Motorola, Digital Ocean, ARM, and Apple for having brought together this wonderful technology. Lets hope the costs invested in inventing this "bleeding edge" technology (i.e. lots of red ink) sunk into this platform in the 1990s will be recovered with the arrival of NewtonČ!
