AVAIL INTRODUCES FIRST PRODUCT, "GEOASSIST,"
AND ANNOUNCES STARCORE DISTRIBUTION AGREEMENT
 
 
SUNNYVALE, California -- January 5, 1994 -- Avail Technology, Inc., today
announced "GeoAssistª," its first Newton product, and demonstrated the software
at the Macworld Exposition in San Francisco.  The GeoAssist program provides an
extensive library of essential mobile reference information.
 
GeoAssist Product Description
GeoAssist includes an up-to-date database of Time-Zone Maps, Major Cities,
NewtonMailª Local Access Numbers, Telephone Calling Codes, Telephone Reference
Numbers, Air Travel Information and more.  In addition, GeoAssist features
FlightTrackª, a unique air-travel utility.
 
"GeoAssist gives you instant access to a unique collection of information which

Important features of GeoAssist include:
 
Time-Zone and Distance Maps
Time zones and the current local time can be displayed on maps of the World,
U.S., and Europe.  In addition, GeoAssist can show the distance between major
cities, and a "ruler" tool can be used to measure distances in miles or
kilometers between any two points tapped on the maps.
 
Major Cities
Major cities from a database of over 1,000 U.S. locations can be pinpointed
instantly on the maps, along with the telephone area code, local time and
average temperature in each of the four seasons.  In addition, tapping the "I'm
Here" button stores the selected location in the user's Newton, adjusting the
local time and telephone dialing information accordingly.
 
NewtonMail Local Access Numbers
The up-to-date NewtonMail Sprint local access numbers for all 50 states in the
U.S. are listed by state, area code and city.  Tapping the "Save New Mail Phone
In Preferences" button stores a selected number into the Mail Preferences,
ready for immediate use.
 
Telephone Calling Codes
Included are all Long Distance Area Codes and International Calling Codes.
Selecting any calling code and tapping the "Locate" button will display the
location on the map display, along with the calling code, nearest city name,
and local time at that location.
 
Telephone Reference Numbers
GeoAssist includes handy toll-free and other telephone numbers in several
categories, including U.S. Airlines, International Airlines, Auto Rentals,
Express Mail, Flowers & Gifts, Hotels & Motels, Local Weather and Lost Credit
Cards.  Selecting a listed number and tapping "Dial" automatically dials the
desired number.
 
Air Travel Information
As a quick reference for the air traveler, GeoAssist includes the Airport Codes
and Names for major U.S. and international airports, as well as Airline Codes
for all major airlines.
 
FlightTrack
The unique FlightTrack option continuously tracks a flight in progress.  It
computes the latest "estimated time of arrival" based on the actual departure
time.  Also displayed are the total, elapsed and remaining distance and time
for the flight.  In addition, the current location of the flight is constantly
updated on the map display.
 
 
 
StarCore Distribution Agreement
Avail also announced that GeoAssist, and its future Newton products, will be
distributed exclusively through StarCore publishing of Apple Computer, Inc.

We look forward to distributing both the GeoAssist software and the other
Newton titles that Avail has under development," said Ivy J. Millman, Global

Pricing and Availability
The suggested list price of GeoAssist is $59.00, and the software is scheduled
to ship to resellers by the end of January.  Both Macintosh and Windows floppy
disks are included with the initial release.
