Heart set on Valentine’s Day Special Edition Zune? You lose. Or maybe you win!

No, I won't say how old I am.

Those chaps at Microsoft promised a special edition Zune 80 for Valentine’s Day, but the units have struck a delay and will not reach their destinations on time. That surely blows, but if your sweet was due to receive a Cupid red Zune 80, fret not. Microsoft is doing the right thing—they’re refunding the cash, and shipping the Zunes for free regardless.

“Our goal is to provide a smooth customer experience for ordering, customization, and delivery. We sincerely apologize for not meeting that goal in this specific case. We will be refunding the entire amount of your order, which you should be able to see on your credit/debit card within 7-10 days. We hope you love your Zune and that you will accept our sincere apology.”

You know, I’m still glad my wife didn’t order one for my birthday.

First off, I've been off the road for several years, now. No traveling about the region or state or even the county to sell any of the custom-designed concepts or goodies I represented. So, I need no supplemental music source. I never bought an iPod - why on Earth would I want a mediocre imitation?

Second, more reasons why I need nothing like this. We have a fine sound system in the living room. It's a small house - sensibly sized. I can rock the walls and windows, now.

Back here in the study, I have Klipsch computer speakers hooked up to the iMac. In clement weather - most of the year in NM - I often take my MacBook out to the portal of our workshop. There's an old lawn table and chairs there. And hidden away in a weatherproof storage box? Another set of Klipsch computer speakers.

Internet radio and ripped CD's are powered by iTunes in both of my computers. So - whether it's Groundation or Radio Deliro...or WCPE - I have enough music to satisfy my self.

And, no - I won't tell you how old I am until my birthday later this week.
