JCB car sets new diesel land speed record
The British JCB Dieselmax team has broken the
land speed record for diesel powered vehicles, averaging a speed of 328.767
miles per hour, officials confirmed.

The British JCB Dieselmax team has broken the land speed record for diesel powered vehicles, averaging a speed of 328.767 miles per hour, officials confirmed.
The car, driven by Wing Commander Andy Green, broke the record on the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah after making two runs.
The first run was made at an average speed of 324.248mph with the return run averaging 333.339mph, beating the previous record of 235mph which has stood for more than 30 years.
The JCB Dieselmax he drove was designed by a British team and is powered by a version of the same engine that is used in ordinary JCB vehicles.

The twin engines in this critter use the stock block and cylinder heads from the front-end loaders and diggers the JCB manufactures. There are hot rod goodies added; but, the real deal is off-the-shelf.
