Merge Works v1.0 --------------------------------------------------------------------- copyright 1996 Stand Alone, Inc. & Ben Gottlieb NOTE: This software is for Newton 2.0+ Newtons ONLY. (currently MessagePad 120/20, 130, 2000, 2100, and eMate 300s) * What's it do? --------------------------------------------------------------------- Route To Works is a tool to let you dump text straight from any application which supports Email into either the NewtWorks word processor or the Notepad. If a Newton does not have NewtWorks installed, the only option will be to dump text into the Notepad. * What's in this archive? --------------------------------------------------------------------- There is one Newton software packages and two text files in this archive. They are: * Rte2Wks.txt document you're now reading. 'Nuff said. * Rte2Wks.pkg software package you'll install on your Newton. * SAStuff.txt A list of all Stand Alone products. * Installing Route To Works --------------------------------------------------------------------- First off, you must get the Route To Works software package onto your Newton. You can do this using the Newton Connection Utility (for Mac or Windows), the Newton Package Downloader, or the Newton Backup Utility. See the documentaion with each of these for more information on installing packages with them. * Using Route To Works --------------------------------------------------------------------- To dump an item to the NotePad or NewtWorks, you need to go into the application containing the item and scroll to the desired item. Then tap on the Routing button (an envelope) and select "To Works". If "To Works" is not shown in the menu, then either no item is selected (in which case you need to make sure that you have indeed checked off or selected an item) or the item does not support text exporting, in which case Route To Works will not work for that application (contact the application maker if you'd like them to support this.) A standard route slip will open, in which you can choose the destination (either the NotePad, or, if NewtWorks is installed, NewtWorks), the folder you'd like the new item filed in, and the font to use. If you select NotePad, the item will be broken up into approximately 8k chunks (Route To Works will try to break it up by paragraphs if possible.) You can also choose to append to an already existing Works document, just select it in the "Append To" picker. Finally, tap the Export button, and you're done! * Registering Route To Works --------------------------------------------------------------------- You have a 30 day trial period in which to examine Route To Works, during which it will function fully. Should you wish to register, you'll need to do one of the following: * Call us and pay using Visa or Mastercard. We can give you a password right over the phone: instant gratification!
