Fax Cover Creator v1.0 --------------------------------------------------------------------- copyright 1996 Stand Alone, Inc. & Ben Gottlieb NOTE: This software is for Newton 2.0 Newtons ONLY. * What's it do? --------------------------------------------------------------------- Fax Cover Creator allows you to create customized cover sheets for your faxes on the Newton. * What's in this archive? --------------------------------------------------------------------- There is one Newton software package and two text files in this archive. They are: * FaxCover.txt document you're now reading. 'Nuff said. * FaxCover.pkg software package you'll install on your Newton. * SAStuff.txt A list of all Stand Alone products. * Installing Fax Cover Creator --------------------------------------------------------------------- First off, you must get the Fax Cover Creator software package onto your Newton. You can do this using the Newton Connection Utility (for Mac or Windows), the Newton Package Downloader, or the Newton Backup Utility. See the documentaion with each of these for more information on installing packages with them. * Using Fax Cover Creator --------------------------------------------------------------------- When you first open Fax Cover Creator, you will be presented with a 'page view' of the default fax cover sheet. Using the tools in the Toolbar (see below) you can modify this sheet. In addition, you can create additional sheets, and install them all, so that when you fax, you can use a different cover depending upon the situation. Note that in page view the cover sheet is shrunk to fit on the Newton's screen. The Toolbar has the following tools: ДцSelection: This tool lets you drag out a rectangle, and all items within the rectangle will be selected. Selected objects can be removed as a group, or aligned (so that their edges or centers all line up.); Д Text: This tool lets you place text items, such as your company name, anywhere on the page. Д Field: This tool lets you place fields that will be filled in at the time of the fax, such as the recipient's name, or their phone number. ДцNotes: Using the Notes tool, you can drag out a rectangle where any attached notes will appear on the cover sheet. ДцRectangle, Circle, Ordinal Line, and Line: These tools all behave in similar fashion. Tap where you like the shape to start, and then drag out where you'd like it to be. Д Place Art: (smiley face) this button opens up the scrapbook, so that you can drag and drop art into the cover sheet. Д Nudge Tools: this will open a small palette with arrows. Tapping an arrow will nudge the selected objects by several pixels in a given direction. After you've layed out your fax sheet, you can preview it, to see just how it will look when you fax, or Build it. Building it converts it into a package that can be manipulated just like any other. Note: you can this package to other people, but they must have Fax Cover Creator installed to use it. You can also set the name and symbol for the package, using the "Settings" option from the action button. * Registering Fax Cover Creator --------------------------------------------------------------------- You have a 30 day trial period in which to examine Fax Cover Creator, during which it will function fully. Once you register, you will receive a password from us. To use it, install the SAS Register package (also enclosed in the Fax Cover Creator archive), select "Fax Cover Creator" from the pop up menu at the top, and enter the password. You should get a message confirming the password.
