In my case, incremental backups nearly always fail (which I suppose is better than a failing restore of a "successful" backup ...). I might by wrong, but I think the comment was about the serialization code (the NOS routines creating a flat stream of bytes from structured objects on the Newton) being buggy, not the serial connection. This would also apply to backups via ethernet. Again, I'm not sure of this (and Dan Rowley will surely correct me if I'm wrong), but I would suppose that backups on memory cards aren't serialized, but retain the original object format. Michael J. Brian, I get this all the time when I try to do an incremental backup, which is what NCU does by default. It might help to move the previous backups from the backup folder to somewhere else (so NCU can't see them and will create a new backup), and try again. This works for me. Michael J.
