NOTE: This software is for Newton 2.1 Newtons ONLY. * What's it do? --------------------------------------------------------------------- Sound Sleep has several features. First, you can configure your Newton so it will wake up your with a simple pen tap on the screen. Second, Sound Sleep allows you to open up and edit sound notes quickly and easily. The sound notes are obtainable either via a floating button, an extras drawer button, or a sequence of turning on and off your Newton. These sound notes are added to the built in notepad, but can always be accessed via Sound Sleep by tapping on the overview button. * What's in this archive? --------------------------------------------------------------------- * Sound Sleep.txt document you're now reading. 'Nuff said. * SAStuff.txt a complete list of Stand Alone Products. * Sound Sleep.pkg software package you'll install on your Newton. * SAReg.pkg software package you'll install on your Newton to register. * Installing Sound Sleep --------------------------------------------------------------------- First off, you must get the Sound Sleep software package onto your Newton. You can do this using the Newton Connection Utility (for Mac or Windows), the Newton Package Downloader, or the Newton Backup Utility. See the documentaion with each of these for more information on installing packages with them. * Using Sound Sleep --------------------------------------------------------------------- To use Sound Sleep, you can open the application via the floating button or extras drawer icon. Then tap on the 'i' button. Choose prefs to setup Sound Sleep: Light Sleep is how long the Newton will into "Light Sleep" mode. In this mode you can wake up the Newton with a pen tap. After this time is up, the Newton will go into normal sleep mode. The checkboxes are options for turning on backlighting and sound notes upon turning on the Newton. The floating button option allows you to place a floating button on the Newton Notes Size is the size the sound note will be it opens (these notes are scrollable). When in the Sound Sleep Application, you can treat everything like the notepad. Tapping on the overview button gives you a list of ALL sound notes on your Newton. You can edit, print, fax, or mail these notes via the action button. * Registering Sound Sleep --------------------------------------------------------------------- You have a 30 day trial period in which to examine Sound Sleep, during which it will function fully. Should you wish to register, you'll need to do one of the following: * Call us and pay using Visa or Mastercard. We can give you a password right over the phone: instant gratification! (773) 477-2492. * Send us a check for $15 to the address below. * Using CompuServe, GO SWREG. However you register, PLEASE be sure to include an email address (it's not vital, but it will result in MUCH speedier service) and your name, as entered in the Owner Info section of your Newton. This is used to generate the password we send you to unlock Sound Sleep, so it has to be exact. Once you register, you will receive a password from us. To use it, either install the SA Register package (also enclosed in the Sound Sleep archive), select "Sound Sleep" from the pop up menu at the top, and enter the password. You should get a message confirming the password. You may then remove the SA Register application from you Newton.
