NoteMan v2.01 --------------------------------------------------------------------- copyright 1996 Stand Alone, Inc. & Ben Gottlieb NOTE: This software is for Newton 2.0 and 2.1 Newtons ONLY. * What's it do? --------------------------------------------------------------------- NoteMan allows you to bring the NotePad to the front of the current application, or, if the NotePad is already open, to close it and save some heap. * What's in this archive? --------------------------------------------------------------------- There are three Newton software packages and three text files in this archive. They are: * NoteMan.txt document you're now reading. 'Nuff said. * NoteMan.pkg software package you'll install on your Newton. * SASReg.pkg software package you'll install on your Newton to enter the password you get when you register NoteMan. * Register.txt read me file describing the Register software. * Register.pkg software package you can install on your Newton to use Register, which will allow you to pay for NoteMan via email. * SAStuff.txt A list of all Stand Alone products. * Installing NoteMan --------------------------------------------------------------------- First off, you must get the NoteMan software package onto your Newton. You can do this using the Newton Connection Utility (for Mac or Windows), the Newton Package Downloader, or the Newton Backup Utility. See the documentaion with each of these for more information on installing packages with them. * Using NoteMan --------------------------------------------------------------------- Note Man will allow you to bring the note pad to the front, no matter what app you're using (so long as it's not a floating app like the Mail Editor.) It will also allow you to close the note pad, saving a few K of heap space. Note Man will place a small button in the upper left or upper right of your screen (depending on whether you've installed the (RT) or (LT) versions.) Tapping the button will bring the Note Pad to the front if there's another app in front of it, or close it if it's in front. Double tapping the button will switch it to the other side. * Registering NoteMan --------------------------------------------------------------------- You have a 30 day trial period in which to examine NoteMan, during which it will function fully. Should you wish to register, you'll need to do one of the following: * Call us and pay using Visa or Mastercard. We can give you a password right over the phone: instant gratification! (773) 477-2492. * Send us a check for $10 to the address below. * Using CompuServe, GO SWREG. * Using Flash Sheridan's Register program (enclosed in the NoteMan archive) and a mail package (such as Aloha or CIS Retriever). Open up Register, fill in the application (NoteMan:SAS), the amount ($10), and your credit card information, and email it. However you register, PLEASE be sure to include an email address (it's not vital, but it will result in MUCH speedier service) and your name, as entered in the Owner Info section of your Newton. This is used to generate the password we send you to unlock NoteMan, so it has to be exact. Once you register, you will receive a password from us. To use it, install the SAS Register package (also enclosed in the NoteMan archive), select "NoteMan" from the pop up menu at the top, and enter the password. You should get a message confirming the password.
