UniTrans 1.0 Description This is a Universal Encoding Translater, named UniTrans. It will change the encoding scheme on the Note of Notes. You can export or import the document to or from Mac via Newton Connection Utilities 1.0. This is very useful for Chinese and Japanese Newton users. This package only for Newton OS 2.0 or later. Usage Before you using UniTrans, you should install concerned NTEncoding module first. There are Traditional Chinese and Japanese NTEncoding modules on the net. You can get more information about Traditional Chinese NTEncoding module from my web page, or surf GNUE's web page(in Japanese) for more information about Japansese NTEncoding moduls, . After install UniTrans, open Extras drawer, tap Prefs. You can find a new item named in Chinese. This is a NTEncoding module selector. Choose the one you want. For example, if you want to translate Big5 code, you should select "Big5 (String)". You maybe read a "Big5" item name. That is for other application, not for UniTrans. On the Notes, tap the Action Button, you can see a new routing item named "UniTrans". Select it, and there will show you a slip. Like other routing items, you know how to do...;-) Using code scheme translation, you can export/import the Traditional Chinese Note to/from Mac via NCU 1.0 and diaplay the Chinese (or Japanese) font exactly on Newton's built-in application: Notes . Information This package tested on MP2000/130.Only for Newton OS 2.0 or later. Document export/import only test on Mac. Windows will not work fine. You had better to install Chinese font into your Newton MessagePad first for test drive. There is a free Chinese font lite version on the net. You can get it at following URL: There is a free, full chars set, Chinese font for Newton on Joe's Newton Software web page.
