UserDict version .1 ===================== Just when you thought it was safe.... Another Newton hack from Bill Kearney. )1994 William Kearney & The Novanto Group This app adds new functionality (oooo! a marketdroid word!) to Intelligent Assistant. If you're not using it now, I wholeheartedly suggest you also install my Assistance! app. This app really benefits from Assistance! begin installed, but it's not absolutely necessary (just harder to use!) Quite simply, UserDict will take any currently selected words and add them to the Newton's user dictionary. Just select a word (or several) and tap Assistance!, then UserDict. It will automagically take your words and attempt to add them to the dictionary. It will pop a message when it finishes. The message will tell you either the word(s) were added or that some or all of them already exist in the dictionary. Any words not in the dictionary are added, duplicates are simply ignored. That's it! If you want to edit the user dictionary, open the alpha keyboard and tap on the little book icon in it's lower left corner. UserDict does not appear in the Extras drawer only in Assist. You'll only see the results of it's actions. It's Install/Remove polite and will not leave anything behind in your Newton. It does not create any soups. You can put it on your card, eject and reinsert the into a friend's Newton and UserDict will work! It won't alter the Newton since the app follows the card. I've been a rather vocal critic of user support for shareware. I certainly don't envision making a mint off of these products, but it's nice to see folks put their dollars behind my efforts. If you like products like UserDict and want to see others of it's kind, you need to support the authors who create them. So, please, send your fees today! If not to me, at least to another author. If you've got some critcisms about any of my products, I welcome feedback. Bugs reports are also needed. If you like it, but don't want to cough up a few bucks, at least send me a e-mail message saying you've seen it and like it. I promise not to harass you too much! Thanks for your time and enjoy using UserDict!
