PickExtras version 1.16

Yet another Revision of Another Newton hack from Bill Kearney.

This simple app will add a pop-up list to your Extras button.  This list contains all the currently installed apps in your Newton.  Tapping on one of the items will launch the selected app.   It also supports digital books.



PickExtras does not appear in the Extras drawer or anywhere else.  You'll only see it if you tap the top half of the Extras button.  



It's Install/Remove polite and will not leave anything behind in your Newton.  It does not create any soups.   You can put it on  your card, eject and reinsert the into a friend's Newton and PickExtras will work!  It won't alter the Newton since the app follows the card.



As a shameless plug for PickExtras, I'll point out that it uses less card AND heap memory than ALL the other Extras apps and supports opening ALL kinds of apps.  It's also available at ALL times; not just as a button in the Notepad.  It's also very easy to use; no hard-to-find little icon stuck under the shadow of the top edge of the screen.  You can even eject a card with PickExtras open; try that with any other Extras utulity!



It's less expensive too!



Just say to No to bloated apps that try to do everything, yet none of it well!

A lot of folks complained and said they liked the pre-1.15 smaller menu font and style.  So I put it back. 



It now also scrolls more than one item at a time.

version 1.14 did not properly scroll.  This rev fixes it.

PickExtras now sorts the app list and supports SCROLLING!

Once you open PickExtras, you can DRAG up and down and the list will scroll.



versions 1.09 - 1.13 never made it out of the lab.  Well, 1.11 did briefly.

Now uses a smaller font in the menu for MORE apps!

This required doing some undocumented stuff, but it's not likely to break.

Now closes itself on a card eject, it's now totally  "Grip o' Death" proof.
