Gomoku, a board game for Newton 1.x and 2.0

 Simple rules, addictive game

 Supports screen rotation with Newton 2.0

Installation: Transmit the file Gomoku.Pkg from a Macintosh

or Windows computer to the Newton with the 'Newton Package

Installer' or a similar software. Tap the Icon 'Gomoku' in

the Extras Drawer.



Playing:

Tap the button 'New' and select 'Newton starts' or 'You

start'. The first player uses the white pieces. Each player

in turn sets a piece on any position of the board that is

unoccupied. The player that first achieves a row of five

pieces either horizontally, vertically or diagonally wins.



- You can display an about box by tapping the 'About' button.

- The language for all text displays can be selected within

  the about box.

- You can choose between three levels of Newton playing

  strength in the about box.

- The last move is indicated by little dots around the

  piece. There is no undo.

- Newton needs 2-4 seconds for its moves.

- Gomoku uses 40 KB on the package store and 11 KB heap memory.

- The playing strategy is by Oliver Binder (1982), I wrote

  the Newton version.

- To deinstall, simply remove the package from the Newton.

  No soup will be left.



This software may be distributed under the following

conditions:

a) this readme-file must be included

b) this software may not be not sold

c) it may not be transmitted by networks or stored on

   media owned or operated by Microsoft

d) the person using the software bears all risk as to the

   quality and performance of the software

Installation: Gomoku.Pkg mit dem 'Newton Package Installer'

oder einer vergleichbaren Software von einem Macintosh oder

Windows-Computer zum Newton |berspielen. Anschlie_end das

'Gomoku'-Symbol in der Extras-Schublade antippen.



Das Spiel:

Die Taste 'Neu' antippen und 'Newton fdngt an' oder 'Du

fdngst an' wdhlen. Der erste Spieler benutzt wei_e Steine.

Abwechselnd setzt jeder Spieler einen Stein auf einen

freien Platz. Wer zuerst f|nf Steine in einer horizontalen,

vertikalen oder diagonalen Reihe schafft, hat gewonnen.



- Ein Versions-Zettel ist |ber die Taste 'Info' erreichbar.

- Dort ld_t sich auch die Sprache f|r alle Textanzeigen

  jederzeit einstellen.

- Die Newton-Spielstdrke ist im Versions-Zettel auf  1, 2,

  oder 3 einstellbar.

- Der zuletzt gesetzte Stein ist markiert; er kann nicht

  zur|ckgenommen werden.

- Die Zugberechnung dauert 2-4 Sekunden

- Gomoku belegt 40 KB als Package und 11 KB sog.

  Heap-Speicher

- Der Spielalgorithmus ist von Oliver Binder (1982), die

  Newton-Fassung ist von mir.

- Zum Entfernen einfach das Package lvschen, es bleibt

  nichts zur|ck.

Installation: Copier l'application Gomoku.Pkg d'un

ordinateur Macintosh ou Windows vers le Newton ` l'aide de 'Newton

Package Installer' ou d'un logiciel similaire. Tapez l'icone

'Gomoku' dans le tiroir Extras.



Rhgles du jeu:

Tapez le bouton 'Nouv.' et silectionnez 'Newton dibuti or

'Vous dibutez'. Le premier joueur utilise les pihces

blanches. Chaque joueur ` tour de rtle place une pihce `

une position libre du jeu. Le premier joueur qui remplit

une rangie de cinq pihces horizontalement ou verticalement

ou en diagonale gagne.



- Vous pouvez faire afficher une boite d'info en tapant le

  bouton 'Info'.

- La langue affichie peut jtre silectionnie dans la boite d'info.

- vous avez le choix de trois niveaux de jeu de la part du

  Newton dans la boite d'info.

- Le dernier mouvement est indiqui par de petits points

  autour de la pihce. On ne peut annuler un mouvement.

- Newton nicessite 2 ` 4 secondes pour choisir son mouvement.

- Gomoku utilise 40 Ko de la mimoire interne et 11 Ko de la

  mimoire systhme (heap).

- La stratigie du jeu est de Oliver Binder (1982), j'ai

  diveloppi la version Newton.

- Pour effacer, supprimer l'application du Newton. Aucune

  soupe associie ne persistera.



Ce logiciel peut jtre distribui sous les conditions suivantes:
