Thank you for choosing Accordian for the Macintosh and Newton systems. Here are version 1.0 release notes. Before using this software, please read the following License Agreement below. Your use of the software implies that you agree to be bound by the Agreement. If you do not accept the Agreement, promptly return the product for a full refund. What is Accordian? Accordian gives you a real time connection between your Newton PDA and FileMaker Pro databases. You must use FileMaker Pro 3.0 and it must be launched (in the background) with the desired database running. We have included 2 sample databases to link your Newton Notes and Names. Accordian supports all of the built-in Newton applications plus other third party Newton applications like MoreInfo, Pocket Money, FormIt, etc. Yes, we know it is spelled "Accordion." Besides avoiding potential name conflicts, we didn't want our software confused with polka music. Hence the letter "a." Things you really should know aboutI % "Accordian" for the Macintosh connects to the "RCU2.3.pkg" for the Newton. Users of the Revelar Connection Utility (RCU) need not download the package again into their Newton. % If sales warrant it, we will provide template support in the next major release. This means you will be able to configure your import/export set up and save a template of it. We may also support FileMaker Pro 4.0. % You must have the Apple Modem Tool installed in your System Folder (Extensions folder) and you should turn AppleTalk off if you are trying to connect through the printer port. If you have extensions turned off, Accordian may still connect but you won't be able to export your data to FileMaker from the Newton. % When adding persons to your Newton Names application from FileMaker, you should include at least one telephone number. Otherwise the Newton will return an error when tapping on the person's name in your Newton. % Importing to the Newton takes about half the time as exporting to FileMaker and it is more forgiving as well. When Accordian exports to FileMaker, it scans through each Newton entry (record) to determine if it is the stationery type to be exported to the desktop. If not, it quickly skips it. If so, the entry is extracted from the Newton and mapped to the fields specified in the Import/Export Set Up table. During export, if a Newton entry is corrupted, Accordian will become confusedQwith the cursor spinning indefinitely. At this point you should cancel export (type command + ".") and delete the corrupted entry directly from your Newton. You will know which entry is corrupted by noting the last entry that was correctly exported to FileMaker. Until you are assured all your Newton entries are sound (not corrupted), it is recommended that you export your entries in smaller sets such as by a range or Folder. This may save time in deleting and re-exporting large sets of Newton data due to a corruption. This does not apply to importing records to the Newton from FileMaker databases. Revelar, Inc. 1643 E.
