EETransfer is a fully featured, fully scriptable, Newton 2.xx program from Easter-eggs. It allows you to perform and automate various kinds of connections and data exchanges with any other computer. EETransfer is really a two in one package, aimed at two different kinds of people: power users and VARs / System Integrators. EETransferUs features include: % Can connect using a serial cable, a modem, IrDA or AppleTalk % Very well suited for wireless communications % Support the XMODEM, YMODEM and ZMODEM protocols % Can also send and receive data using no protocol % Can connect to any other computer including (but not limited to) DOS, Windows, MacOS, Unix and Newton systems % VT100 Terminal emulation (in a separate package, so that System Integrators wonUt have to ship it with their vertical solutions) % Screen shots % Can send and receive Newton packages % Can decode / encode Newton data, including (but not limited to) notes, names, dates and pictures % Can import / export Newton soups from / to classic files % Connection log Installing EETransfer Before using EETransfer, you need to install the following packages on the Newton: % EETransfer Suite.pkg % EETerminal.pkg If your Newton doesn't already contain a non proportional font like Courier or Monaco, you need also to install at least one of the packages found in the REETerminal FontsS folder. The following packages are optional: % EELog.pkg (to see the log of the last connections) % EESnapshot.pkg (to take screen shots) % EETransfer Scripts.pkg (contains several samples of EETransfer scripts) Using EETransfer Please refer to the HTML documentation available either online or in the RDocumentationS folder. Registering This program is Shareware, which means if you use it, you must pay for it. A single user license costs US$50. Registration will remove the registration reminder screen when the Newton reboots and when EETransfer is started up. You can pay in one of two ways: on-line registration using a web browser, or off-line registration using the Register program. As soon as Kagi Shareware has processed your registration they will forward it to Easter-eggs and send you an acknowledgement. Easter-eggs will then send you a registration code. Please allow four days for delivery. This registration code must be entered into EETransfer. Note that this code is keyed to your Newton user name, so make sure to use the same name to Register. (The name will be included with the Registration Acknowledgement from Easter-eggs.) To enter the Registration code, open the Newton I/O Box and select "EETransfer Prefs" from the Information "i" menu. This will open the EETransfer Preferences window, where you can press the Register button. Thanks for registering! On-Line Registration Our online registration can be found at: Once you have received your registration acknowledgement you will need to enter it into EETransfer as described above. Off-Line Registration Your copy of "EETransfer" should come with a small Macintosh program called RRegisterS, which you use to create a personalized registration form to send to Kagi Software. If you do not have the RRegisterS application, you should download a fresh copy of the whole "EETransfer" package because the latest version of "EETransfer" includes the Register program. 1. Run the Register program and fill out the form: You need to enter your name, email, postal address, and the shareware you wish to pay for. The form accepts many different payment methods such as: US Check, Money Order, Cash (in many different currencies), Visa, Mastercard, American Express, First Virtual, and Invoice (to be given to your accounts payable department). 2. Send it to Kagi Shareware: Then either email the data generated by the registration program or print it and send it via postal mail or fax. Credit card information is encoded by the Register program. The address to send the completed form is output by Register when you Print or Copy the completed form. The addresses are: Email: shareware@kagi.com FAX: +1 510 652 6589 Snail-mail: Kagi 1442-A Walnut Street #392-W9 Berkeley, California, 94709-1405 USA 3. Enter the Registration Code: When you receive a reply from Kagi Shareware, enter the Registration code into EETransfer. This process is described above. You may distribute this program any way you wish as long as you donUt charge for it (reasonable download costs are ok). You must distribute the package in its entirety. We donUt guarantee any support, but we always answer our Email. If we donUt answer Email it is because your message didnUt get to us, or our reply bounced, so please try again and include a valid Internet address if you can. You MAY NOT DISTRIBUTE this program on any disk or CD without our explicit permission. Site Licensing World-wide license: US$10000 Universities or companies site license: US$2500 A site license covers usage of EETransfer on an unlimited number of machines within 100 miles of some arbitrary central point which are owned by the licensed organization.
