Installation ------------ Install TimeIt.pkg as you would with other Newton software, by downloading it to your device using the Newton Connection Utilities, Newton Backup Utility, Newton Package Installer, or other package installation utility. Time It will install an icon in your Extras drawer. Use --- Tap on the Time It icon to open it. You may access the preferences by tapping the Info button and tapping Prefs. The Time It display shows the time in hours, minutes, and seconds. Timer ----- Time It can be used as a timer to count down an amount of time. The number buttons allow you to enter a time. The digits will scroll off the left side of the display. The limit of the timer is 99:99:99 (a little more than 100 hours, which is a little more than 4 days). The Start button starts and stops the time. Time It will wake up your Newton device (if asleep), and sound an alarm when the time has elapsed. To stop the alarm, tap anywhere on Time It (eg. the time display). The alarm will stop on its own after a minute. Time It is not accurate if you set the Timer for less than 5 seconds and close the application. Stopwatch --------- Time It can be used as a stopwatch to count up time elapsed. Tap the Reset button to zero the time. The Start button starts and stops the time. The display will rollover when it passes 23:59:59. Reset Button ------------ The Reset button has two functions. 1) If the time display does not show zero, Reset will zero the time and stop the clock. 2) If the time display shows zero, Reset will set the clock to the last set time. Time List --------- You may keep a list of times from which you can later choose from to set. To add to Time List: Enter an amount of time by tapping the appropriate number buttons. Tap the Time List button and select Add Time. To select time: Tap the Time List button and select a time from the list. To delete from Time List: Hold down on the Time List button until the popup appears. Select a time from the list. Options ------- After Alarm You may have Time It count up the time after the Timer alarm goes off. Tap on the Stopwatch After Alarm checkbox to check or uncheck the option. Backlight On Alarm You may have Time It turn on the backlight when the alarm goes off. Tap on the Backlight On Alarm checkbox to check or uncheck the option. This only exists on models with backlighting. System Alarm Settings You may tell Time It to use the system settings. Time It will abide by the sound and volume that are in set in the Alarm Preferences. Tap on the System Alarm Settings checkbox to check or uncheck the option. Sound and Volume You may select the sound and volume of the alarm. Tap on the Sound diamond and select a sound. The default sound is "Wristwatch" a digital wristwatch alarm sound. Slide the volume slider to change the volume. Accuracy -------- Time It is only as accurate as your Newton device. Generally, Newton devices keep good time, however they do lose/gain seconds over a day. You are knowingly taking a risk if you use Time It in time critical situations. Registration ------------ Time It is unlockable demonstration software. When unregistered, Time It will work with no restrictions for 30 days or 250 uses, whichever occurs first. After that, the alarm will not sound and a reminder will appear each time it is used unregistered. Registration cost is US$15. You may register using Kagi through: A) World Wide Web at: B) WWW Secure (SSL) Connection: C) Using Flash Sheridan's Register for the Newton. For more information visit Kagi at . Validation Code --------------- Once your payment is cleared, we will send you a validation code by email (or postal mail). Tap on the Info button and tap on Register. Make sure the name is correct and enter the validation code (all lowercase letters). Tap Validate. About Owner Card-based Registration ----------------------------------- Time It uses Owner Card registration. This requires that your registered name appears on the Owner Card. If you do temporarily switch to another Owner Card, Time It will give you a peaceful grace period to return to the registered Owner Card. If you do not switch to the original Owner Card within the grace period, Time It will then give you warnings. However, once you do return to the original Owner Card and use Time It, the grace period will be reset. NewtonID -------- NewtonID provides a single stable user name to a Newton device. It requires that you install it in order to set your NewtonID user name. Once it is set, however, the software is not required and may be removed. Time It is NewtonID aware, and will use it if it is present on your Newton device. If you later remove the NewtonID user name, Time It will use the Owner Card.
