What is FlashClock?

FlashClock is a small application that displays the time when you turn on your Newton device. An extension allows you to modify settings for the clock such as font, size, and style. The clock display can be placed anywhere on the screen and can be made to be persistent.



Requirements

FlashClock 2 is only available for Newton OS 2.0 and 2.1 and has been tested on an MP130 and MP2000. No testing on MP120 or eMate300 has been done, but no foreseeable problems exist at this time.



Installation

Install FlashClock2.pkg and FCPrefs.pkg as you would any other Newton software, by downloading it to your device using the Newton Connection Utilities, Newton Backup Utility, Newton Package Installer, or other package installation utility. FlashClock will be installed into your Extras drawer as an application and FCPrefs will be installed as an extension.



You do not need to install FCPrefs in order to use FlashClock.



Use

Open: Turn on the Newton device and FlashClock will appear on the screen. You may also open it by tapping on the FlashClock icon in the Extras Drawer.



Close: Tap on the clock display. If you are using the default settings, FlashClock will automatically close in 2-3 seconds.



Move: Drag the clock display anywhere on the screen.



Preferences: Open Prefs to access the preferences. Select FlashClock 2.0.



Require Tap: Choose this to require a tap to close the display. This allows a constant clock to appear on the screen. A shortcut: Toggle this preference by holding down the pen on the actual clock display until it flashes.



Font, Size, Style: Choose from each button to alter each setting.



Help: Access the online help book from the Information button on the FlashClock preferences slip.
