WordGrid 2.0f1 notes. It should run on all versions of the Newton MessagePad. It requires approximately 100K of free storage space for the application itself. It also adds a small amount of preference information to your internal memory so you should allow for it to use a few kBytes for that. HOW TO PLAY WORDGRID WordGrid is a game to find words contained in a puzzle grid. To find a word, draw a single line on the grid connecting the letters that make up the word. The line does not have to be straight (it can zig-zag and cross) but must be made in a single stroke; you cannot lift the pen until you have connected all the letters. There are two sets of puzzles. "Directed search" puzzles, prompt you to find a word and "Free search", where you have to find all of the words contained in a grid on your own. The free search game is a much more interesting version of the game but can be difficult for WordGrid beginners. Directed search (the default game) gives you words to find in a grid and you find them by drawing a line over those letters in the grid. The user can change to free search at anytime by selecting free search on the preferences screen. To display the preferences screen choose "Prefs" from the "i" (information) button along the bottom of the screen. You can also get more help on playing and using WordGrid by selecting "Help" from the information button. Wordgrid only comes with 16 puzzles, 8 free search and 8 directed search. Most of these are pretty easy (especially directed search), but the last few puzzles should be fairly challenging. More puzzles can obtained from SRL Data and can be downloaded onto your Newton in the same way as other application packages.
