Hang Man v1.0 Introduction =========== Hang Man is a word game for the Newton MessagePad. Try to guess the word before the hang man is complete (7 wrong guesses). The unregistered version of Hang Man only allows for three letter words. Words up to twelve letters are available in the registered version. Installation =========== Hang Man installs like most other Newton packages. 1. Make sure that the cable from the Mac/PC is connected properly to the Newton. 2. Start a Newton package installer on the Mac/PC (such as the Newton Connection Kit). 3. Select "Install package" (or equivalent) from the menu bar and choose HangMan.pkg. 4. On the Newton, tap "Connection" in Extras then the appropriate type of connection (such as Macintosh serial). 5. Hang Man should install automatically in a few seconds. File list ======== This is a complete file list. 1. HangMan.pkg - the main program in Newton package format. 2. ReadMe.txt - this file. 3. Catalog.txt - a catalog of other B.P.S., Inc.'s products. 4. OrderForm.txt - the form for registering Hang Man. Using Hang Man ============= Hang Man is very easy to use. Simply tap on letters that you think might be in the word. The letter will disappear and if it is in the word, will be displayed, otherwise a new piece of the hang man will be shown. If you correctly guess the word, you win the game. If you use up all of your seven guesses (the hang man is complete), you lose the game. Hang Man will keep track of games won and lost. To set the various game options, tap the "Options" button. The "Minimum letters" option sets the minimum number of letters in the words to be guessed. "Sound" determines if sound effects will be used or not. "Reset" resets the current game tally. Registration ============ Hang Man is a shareware program that has a 30 day evaluation period after which a payment of $12 is required. As shareware, Hang Man was distributed freely in order to allow people to "test drive" it. The try- before-you-buy concept allows users to find out which programs are useful before purchasing them. If a shareware program is useful or entertaining, please support it through registration. The registration fee for Hang Man is only $12 and entitles you to the newest registered version of the program, a printed manual, a Newton book manual, customer support (through the mail or on Compuserve, AOL, or the Internet), and information (and discounts) on other offerings from Burnham Park Software, Inc.
