Cricket Scorepad 1.0 Cricket Scorepad was written by Allan Wright (aew@unh.edu) in response to some requests from the readers of the comp.sys.newton newsgroup on the internet. Being a dart player and Newton owner myself I decided to take a shot at writing a good score keeping program for Cricket - Cricket Scorepad is the result. Operation of the program is fairly straightforward. The top of each column had an input line for the player or team names. These are displayed only and not used for saving games (yet) so feel free to leave them as Player A and Player B if you like. Each "point" 20 - 15 and Bull are represented by a row on the scorepad just as if you were scoring on a chalkboard. To register a hit click on the '+' button. 3 hits, 3 clicks. Future versions might have these buttons respond with pop-up menus for 1-9 hits. The scores will automaticly be updated for hits on closed points that the opponent still has open. On the status bat there are 3 buttons. About opens or closes the screen that tells you about the version of the program. New game will reset the scores to 0 and clear all the hits off the scorepad. The last button begins saying "Cricket" and will cause the game to score the regular game ofricket, also called "American Cricket". Clicking on this button will cause the game to score acording to the rules of "Mickey Mouse" cricket. In this varriant, any additional hits beyond those necessary to close the point are deducted from your score. Stragety dictates that you should try to close the Bullseye first in this game. This version of Cricket Scorepad is Freeware - use it in good health. If you like it - please drop me an E-mail. I am planning a second edition of Cricket Scorepad if there is enough interest. It will sell fot around $10 and will include Undo, Additional varriants, the pop-up buttons described above and other features. If you think you might be interested in this program please E-mail me so that I will know to continue developing it. I have included a Newton Book titled "Cricket Based Dart Games" which I made by gleaning information off the internet. I'm including it in this archive in case anyone is interested. Use it in good health, and may you always hit Trebble 20! -Allan Wright (aew@unh.edu) http://pease1.sr.unh.edu/1/aew This and other Newton programs by me at: http://pease1.sr.unh.edu/1/aew/newton
