Installation instructions: Download the new VetNotes 0.8. The programs are large so you may want to download the installer (VetData.pkg) first and install the data needed by the main program, remove the installer and then download the main program (VetNotes.pkg) to try it out. The data installer has 16 word list sets. These are mostly empty in version 0.8. The only reason to keep old ones is you may have edited the lists and want to keep the changes or you may have created a set of lists of your own. The installer program will detect the old lists and ask you if you want to keep all of them, remove them and install new lists, or install one or more list sets individually. If you decide you want some of the lists but not all then you will install them one at a time, overwriting old list sets or unused sets. You can decide where each set will go in the list of 16 sets that can be installed. In version 0.8 this is not important. Later version will hopefully have significant data to install. With "VetNotesLink" you can choose 16 lists sets from whatever lists you have available and download the ones most useful to your practice. You can also create your own lists and download them from the Mac application. To create a fresh installation with new data: Offload as many unused programs from your Newton as possible. Make sure you can reinstall them if needed later, but during the installation you will need as much free memory as possible. Programs that are installed but not running still use some memory. Download and launch only the installer program. This is used to create the demo data and load the word lists available from the developer. Tap on the top button "Install DEMO animal data". Do this even if you don't need the demo data. You can immediately unload that data if it is of no interest, but the installation is required to set up the data storage correctly for any data you add later while using the program. Tap the button "Install word lists". This will take one to two minutes to load the more than 140 lists. Tap the button "Install Help System". This will ease the first use of the software. It can be unloaded at any time to save space in the system. It takes up about 50kbytes on a RAM card. If you get a message that the memory is low and the Newton needs to be reset, go ahead and reset it and then come back here and reload the help system. When Help is used by a user, as soon as you change screens, the Help system memory is recovered. You can remove the installer application from your Newton. Download the main program and you are ready to use it. Remember the built-in help system when you don't know what something is for. Just tap the "?" button and then tap the unknown object on the screen.
