FormulaGen is a remarkable new utility which lets you to enter your own formulas into the Newton's formula roll. Simply type any Newtonscript expression (such as "a+b=c", "(wieners + buns) /2 = hotdogs", or "N*(N+1)/2=N!" into FormulaGen's "Formula" window, then enter a carriage-return. If the Newton likes your formula it will disappear from the window, & the next time you tap Formulas in the Extras drawer you'll find that a panel for "c", "hotdogs", "N!", or whatever has been installed. Note that everthing to the right of the equal-sign in your formula is simply used as the label for your formula & the target for evaluation, & is not itself evaluated algebraically. In this early prototype formulas can be changed by name, but can only be deleted by deleting FormulaGen's soup ("FormulaGen:Pinehill"), either in toto or individual records therein; so you may want to adopt a standard name, such as "test"" for developing & testing formulas (e.g. "a+b=test"). Such changes take effect after the Newton is re-booted (i.e. Reset). A soup utility (e.g. "StewPot") is also currently the only way to review the formulas underlying each of your installed panels. Also note that, altho the number of variables a formula can contain may be theoretically unlimited, large panels consume large amounts of heap space, so you probably want to keep the number of variables in your formulas to a minimum. Finally, this version of FormulaGen should be installed in internal memory; installing on a card will result in the FormulaRoll becoming inaccessable when the card is removed! (re-boot the Newton to recover, & be prepared to lose all your formulas until you insert that card again) P.S. NOT NOS2 compatible.
