      This is a fully functioning version of Elegance. It will function in 
      "Demo" mode for 1 month after you install it if you don't enter a
      valid key for it.  You will be presented with a dialog when you
      run Elegance for the first time.  If you already have your serial
      number please enter it now.  If you run Elegance in the demo mode
      you can enter your serial number via the "Elegance" menu.
      
      The enclosed manual is in Adobe Acrobat format.  You can obtain 
      Acrobat Reader from Adobe at http://www.adobe.com or from any
      sumex-mirror.

----- SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS ---------------------------------------------------

      Elegance works equally well whether it is run off the internal
      memory or from an external memory card.
      
      Still, as Elegance is designed to make the Newton easier to use 
      and more efficient, it is likely to be in constant use. For this
      reason, installing Elegance internally is far more convenient and
      avoids the problems that arise if you wish to remove or change the
      memory card.
      
      Because of this, Elegance was designed to be as compact as
      possible, and only uses 60K of memory space. We think you will
      quickly find making space in the internal memory is well worth it.
      
      The Elegance Customizer requires 65K, but need only be run when 
      the package is first installed, and at those times when you wish
      customize the program. For this reason, we recommend you install
      Elegance on an external memory storage card to save precious space
      in the internal memory.
      
      Of course, if you have 125K free or are planning to experiment with
      the customizable features, both packages may be installed internally.

----- INSTALLING ------------------------------------------------------------

      This document provides complete instructions on how to install
      Elegance and the Elegance Customizer in the internal memory, on an
      external memory storage card, or a combination of the two.
      
      Installing Elegance is a straight forward and simple process.
      First, you need the Newton Connection Kit(tm) for Macintosh(tm),
      Newton Connection Kit for Windows(tm), or some other utility that
      will download packages to your Newton.
      
      OPTION 1 is intended for Newtons with at least 60K of internal
      memory available as well as a memory storage card.
      
      OPTION 2 is intended for Newtons with a memory storage card and
      limited internal memory.
      
      OPTION 3 should be used if your Newton has no memory storage card
      but has at least 125K of internal memory available.

----- INSTALLATION NOTE -----------------------------------------------------
      
      If you have installed a previous version of Elegance on your Newton
      it is advisable that you run the Clear-Elegance-1.2 program, which
      is included in the Elegance Utilities folder.  This program will
      allow you to remove and cleanup your Newton before installing a new
      version of the Elegance.

      Newton with Memory Card and 60K-Internal Memory
         Elegance 60K             -  Internal
         Elegance Customizer 65K  -  Memory Storage Card


      Installing: Elegance
      
      1)    Make sure that the memory storage card is inserted in 
            your Newton.
      2)    Open the Extras Drawer.
      3)    Tap the Card icon.
      4)    Make sure "Store new items on card" is not checked.
      5)    Close the Card application.
      6)    Open the Newton Connection Kit on your Macintosh or Windows
            computer and click Install Package.
      7)    Choose Elegance as the Package to install and click open.
      8)    From the Newton tap the Connection icon in the Extras Drawer.
      9)    Select the type of connection you are using.
      10)   Tap Connect.

      Installing: Elegance Customizer
      
      11)   Tap the Card icon.
      12)   Make sure "Store new items on card" is checked.
      13)   From the Newton Connection Kit choose Elegance Customizer 
            as the Package to install and click open.
      14)   From the Newton tap the Connection icon in the Extras Drawer.
      15)   Select the type of connection you are using.
      16)   Tap Connect.

      Elegance and the Elegance Customizer have now been installed. 
      Please move on to the Setting Up Elegance section at the end of 
      this chapter to complete your installation. Refer to Installing a
      package onto Newton in the Newton Connection Kit User's Guide if

----- SETTING UP ELEGANCE - INSTALLATION OPTIONS 1-3 ------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
      
      When Elegance and the Elegance Customizer have first been installed
      on your Newton, you need to open the Elegance Customizer and set
      Elegance to its default setting. This installs an initial or
      "Default" set of tools on the customizable Tools and Applications
      Menus we think will be found most generally useful. After you have
      familiarized yourself with Elegance you can go back to the Elegance
      Customizer and personalize these menus.

      Installing: The Default Tools
      
      1)    Open the Extras Drawer and tap the Elegance icon there.
      2)    On the Elegance toolbar, which will be in the lower right 
            corner of the Newton's screen, tap the Elegance menu 
            button. That will be on the far right of the toolbar.
      3)    Select the "EleganceT Customizer" menu item.
      4)    Tap the  button.
      5)    Tap the close  button.
