IMPORTANT UPGRADE INFORMATION
-----------------------------
If you were using AlarmClock 1.2 or a prior version, you should load
AC 1.x Prefs Fix before loading AlarmClock 1.3. Previous versions used
a different data structure to store user preferences; this 
structure needs to be removed in order to run AlarmClock 1.3 properly.

Just load up the program and click on its icon in Extras; the program will
find the old preferences file and remove it. Afterwards, you can remove
the package and load AlarmClock 1.3.


Shareware Notice
================

AlarmClock is shareware. If you like this program, please
send $10 (US) to Foundation Systems. The program will work for
fifteen alarms before disabling itself every other day.

What is AlarmClock
==================

AlarmClock is the ultimate alarm clock for the Newton(tm).
This is for all those who forget to bring their travel clocks
on business trips and during vacation, have bad experiences with
absent-minded hotels, or just do not like the current alarm
clock implementation.

AlarmClock is loud, annoying, and configurable, exactly what
you are looking for in an travel clock!


Requirements
============

Any Newton running Newt OS 1.x. Users with OS 2.0 should use to
AlarmClock 2.0 immediately.


Features
========

- LOUD, the loudest sound ever from your Newton with AlarmClock!

- Large Stop and Snooze buttons. You won't have to hunt and peck for
  the Stop and Snooze buttons any longer.

- Auto Wakeup. Turn off your Newton and the alarm will still go
  off at the appropriate time!

- Auto Shutoff. If the alarm goes off and you are not there, AlarmClock!
  will shut itself off after a user-configurable delay. You do not
  have to worry about draining your precious battery!

- Adjustable Snooze Delay. Like to snooze for longer than 10 minutes? Shorter?
  AlarmClock! puts the power to control your snoozing in your hands.

- Recurring Alarm. AlarmClock! can optionally reset itself 24 hours
  ahead after you click on the stop button.

- Power Switch. The Newton's power switch acts as a stop or snooze button.
 
- Extras Icon. The Extras icons changes to reflect whether an alarm has
  been set or not.


INSTALLATION
============

Installation is simple. Install AlarmClock using Newton Backup Utility(tm)
or any other package downloading utilities.

 
Setting an alarm
================

1) Digital Clock View
   
   o Tap on the view labelled, "Alarm: xx:xx am/pm" and a view
     will appear that will let you input the new alarm time via
     a keypad. Close the view and the time will be adjusted
     accordingly.
   
2) Analog Clock View

   o There are many ways to set the time with the analog clock
     view. Explore and discover!


Turning on the alarm
====================

Simply tap on the alarmToggle button (to the right of the analog
clock view). When the alarm is on, the button will be highlighted
and labelled, "ON." When there is no alarm set, the button will be
labelled, "OFF" and will not be highlighted.


Setting Preferences
=====================

1) Tap on the Info Button (lower left of application) and choose "Prefs."

2) The preferences view will appear, allowing you to configure AlarmClock
   to your preferences.

3) You can change the snooze and auto shutoff delays by choosing a value
   from the picker or writing in your own value.

4) Power Switch allows you to programmatically stop or snooze AlarmClock
   using the power switch.
   
5) Daily Alarm will automatically create a new alarm 24 hours ahead
   in the future after you tap on stop.

6) Use System Alarm Settings will make AlarmClock use the settings set in
   the Alarm prefs roll.
