This collection of importable files can be used to add entries to the states table so the states will all be available for selection from a table field that uses the states table. It's probably best to use only the long form or only the short form of each state's name. Note that the Names database created in the tutorial uses a "state" table, not a "states" table, so by default there is no collision between that table and this one. If you want to use this table in the Names database, you will want to modify the Names database, changing the name of the table supporting the state field from "state" to "states". The Australian state abbreviations are uninformed guesses. They are also somewhat unnatural, since an attempt (possibly misguided) was made to avoid collisions with US state and Canadian province abbreviations (for which the official choices were known). Feel free to send in corrections, official or otherwise. The countries file can also be used to create and populate a countries table. There may be more countries than you want, but you can either edit the file before importing or delete entries from the table after importing. The full countries table and the states table if the USA is included is getting close to large enough that a separate database makes more sense than a table. This option is available. See the regions folder.
