These settings files were prepared with MicroPhone Pro version 2.0.2. They can be used to import data from a Mac into Leverage and also to export data from Leverage to a Mac. They may work with other recent versions of MicroPhone, including "lite" versions and versions 4.0 and 5.0, but this has not been verified. The serial connection settings file automatically opens the connection (more precisely, MicroPhone automatically opens the connection in the case of serial connections), so there is no manual "open connection" step as there is with some programs. The ADSP connection settings file automatically tells MicroPhone to listen for a connection when it is started, so there is no need to manually request that MicroPhone listen for a connection unless more than one transfer is started. If a second transfer is desired after the first one is complete (and Leverage has disconnected), choose "Listen for Connection" from MicroPhone Pro's Phone menu. To send data to Leverage: After getting Leverage ready to import (choose Import Database from the Action button and tap the Connect button -- if you are using an ADSP connection you will see need to select the server), choose SendÉ from MicroPhone Pro's Transfer menu. The protocol should be ASCII/Text. As always, if the file does not contain end of data markers, you will need to close the Import Database dialog in Leverage when the transfer is complete. Remember that since the data transfer is buffered, the transfer will complete on the Macintosh before Leverage has finished processing all the data. Wait until the entry number stops incrementing before closing the dialog. To capture data from Leverage: After getting Leverage ready to export (choose Export Database from the Action button and tap the Connect button -- if you are using an ADSP connection you will see need to select the server), choose "Open New Capture FileÉ" from MicroPhone Pro's File menu. Name the file and choose "Capture from Stream" so MicroPhone will preserve the long lines Leverage will be giving it. Tap the Send button in the Leverage Export Database dialog. When the transfer is complete the Export Database dialog will disappear. Tell MicroPhone the transfer is complete by choosing "Turn Capture Off" from MicroPhone Pro's File menu. The Leverage ADSP Text Server settings file is intended to be used as a collector of records from one or more copies of Leverage on a (possibly wireless) network. The settings file automatically starts the Leverage Server script that runs in an endless loop, looking for connections, opening a new capture file (They are currently called "survey1", "survey2", etc. for some reason. Of course, you could change the name in the MicroPhone Leverage Server script. It should probably prompt for a base name to add numbers to.) each time a connection is made, stashing the received data into the file, closing the file, and going back to the beginning of the loop again. The Leverage Modem Text Server settings file works like the Leverage ADSP Text Server, but receives incoming modem calls rather than incoming LocalTalk connections. When you first start it, if MicroPhone asks for a phone number click on cancel since you aren't going to be calling out. The incoming calls are saved in separate files just as described in the preceding paragraph. Unfortunately, there will probably be some trailing garbage left as the phone line disconnects. You can see the two survey files in this folder for examples of this. A program that processes the incoming data could look for the "== EOD ==" line to know where to stop, thus avoid the hangup garbage.
