* What's it do?
---------------------------------------------------------------------
	Super Names is a set of enhancements for the built-in Names file,
including more comprehensive searching, the ability to tag names and 
create custom filters, a small view of your names for quicker access, 
and the ability the customize your overview and change the fonts.

* What's in this archive?
---------------------------------------------------------------------
	There are three Newton software packages and three text files in
this archive. They are:
	* SprNames.txt	document you're now reading. 'Nuff said.
	* SprNames.pkg	software package you'll install on your Newton.
	* SAStuff.txt	A list of all Stand Alone products.

* Installing Super Names
---------------------------------------------------------------------
	First off, you must get the Super Names software package onto your
Newton. You can do this using the Newton Connection Utility (for Mac or
Windows), the Newton Package Downloader, or the Newton Backup
Utility. See the documentaion with each of these for more
information on installing packages with them.

* Using Super Names
---------------------------------------------------------------------
	Super Names adds several new ways to view your names.  The "Show"
menu allows to switch between them.  This is divided into two sections.
The top half is used to switch between the Card View, the All Info view,
the Search view, and the Card & Notes view.  The second section of 
the "Show" menu is used to switch between the full view and the 
small view.  

	 The full view is the same as the standard Names view. The small 
view lets you view the names in a small window that can be dragged around
the screen.  This view allows much quicker access to names.  The "All Info" 
and "Card & Notes" views cannot be viewed in small mode.

	The card view has several new features.  The card style can now be easily selected from a menu in the lower right of the card.  The tag button,
to the right of the card selection button, allows yopu to "tag" notes
for use in custom filters (see below).  The magnifying glass in the 
upper left of the card will bring you directly into the search view
(see below).  The Card & Notes view is the same as the card view,
but you have a place to add notes to a name.

	The status bar in the Overview has two new buttons.  The first new
button, to the right of the "Show" button, will toggle a letter search
at the bottom of the overview.  If this is on, you can write the
first few letters of a name there, and the overview will skip to the
first name that begins with whatever you wrote.  The second button is
a "Check all" button, that will check or uncheck all of the names.

	The search view is divided into three sections.  The bottom section is
where you enter in the first several letters of the name or company you
are searching for.  Matches are displayed in the top section.  Tapping
on any of these matches will bring up a small version of it's card in
the middle section.

	Many of the features of Super NotePad can be customized in the 
preferences window.  You can change whether the A-Z index tags are
located on the top or bottom of the window, the folder to open to, 
the way the phone number, name, and company are formatted, and the
fonts on the overview screen.

	The "Protekt" choice in the folders menu allows you to password-
protect folders.  Tapping on this option will open up a window allowing
you to enter a password for this folder.  This password will have to
be entered before anyone can see what is in the folder.  NOTE:  "All
Names" and "Unfiled Names" can not be password protected.

	You can set up custom filters, so that you can view multiple folders and tags at once, or exclude tags. To set up a custom folder, tap the folder tab, and tap "Custom Filters". A window will open with a picker at the top listing all of your custom filters. Below the name will be a list of at least one, and possibly more, choices for the the filter. By tapping on the first and second pickers on each line, you can set up a phrase such as "View only notes that are tagged with Important". To add more qualifiers, tap the "More Choices" button, and to reduce the number, (only if there is more than one filter.) You can also tap the "Rename" button to rename the filter.  The first picker choices are
"Are", "Are Not", and "May Be".  "Are" means that this condition must be true
for a name to be in the filter.  "Are Not" means that it must not be true.  "May Be" means that any name that meets this one condition will be in the 
Filter.

	For Example, "Are tagged with Important, Are filed in business" will 
give you names that are both in business and tagged with "Important".  "May
be tagged with important, may be filed in business" will give you names
that are either filed in business or tagged with "Important"
	
		Once you've created your custom filters, you can select them from the filter bar menu, and they will be made the current filter. You can password protect custom filters just as normal filters.


* Registering Super Names
---------------------------------------------------------------------
	You have a 30 day trial period in which to examine Super Names, 
during which it will function fully. Should you wish to register, 
you'll need to do one of the following:

	* Call us and pay using Visa or Mastercard. We can give you a 
	  password right over the phone: instant gratification!  (773) 477-2492.

	* Send us a check for $34.95 to the address below.
		
	* Using CompuServe, GO SWREG.
	
	However you register, PLEASE be sure to include an email address
(it's not vital, but it will result in MUCH speedier service) and 
your name, as entered in the Owner Info section of your Newton. 
This is used to generate the password we send you to unlock Super Names, 
so it has to be exact.
