SelectAll V1.0 for NOS2 only -------------- Function: This extension adds an item to the routingbutton when you are in the overview mode of Names, Calls or Notes. This item lets you select all entries in the active folder. Also the entries you do not see (eg if you have more then 8 notes in a folder, you will only see 8 in overview - portrait mode), but maybe 120 entries are selected. When tapping the routingbutton in the overview mode an item in the form "Select 1 entry" or "Select 54 entries" will be visible in the picklist. The number will indicate the total number of entries in that folder. If a folder is empty (as is possible in Names), either a notification will pop up or eg "Beam My Card" shows, but not the SelectAll option. For the technically unchallenged: This extension normally selects all entries in a folder. If this is giving you memory problems when doing DELETE or DUPLICATE, you can limit the number of selections. This needs to be done with a seperate package: SelectAllPrefs:Gert This package install a preference for Select All in the built in Preferences application. Here you can give a number between 0 and 9999. By default this value is 0, which means "no limits". You can give other values like 56 or 189 by picking the appropriate digits. If you set the value to 50, and you have less entries in a folder, the item in the routingbutton list will look like "Select 45 entries". If, on the other hand , there are 65 entries in that folder, you would see "Select 50 of 65 entries". There is also a reset button. SelectAll does NOT need the preferences-package to be installed to work. If you are happy with always selecting all entries, then just install SelectAll. If you plan to change the maximum number of selections, then also install SelectAllPrefs. SelectAll should be installed in the internal store. SelectAllPrefs can be installed on a card. !! This is freeware. !! This also means that any damage resulting from it's use is your own responsibility. I will NOT be held accountable for it. You are allowed to give this package to your friends, distribute it via electronic means of any kind. If it is included in a commercial product (eg collection CD or something of the sort), then contact me. This is my New Years gift to the Newton community. I would be gratefull if anyone would post this package and readme file on AMUG, since I keep getting problems FTP'ing to it. If you do, just send me a mail to inform me that you did so. Acknowledgements This package was built with Steve Weyer's NewtEnvDev, the best native Newtonscript compiler around ! It was transferred to PC using TOSS 1a (also by Steve). For questions about Steve's design tools, send a mail to weyers@netaxs.com or have a look at http://www.netaxs.com/~weyer/newton/ I would like to thank Sean O'Shaughnessey for asking questions about the previous version of SelectAll (a button for the Names statusbar - limited to visible entries though). It made me rethink this code, and he also beta-tested the new stuff. Have fun !
