QuickFigure GPS Tool ReadMe-- User ================================== 12/28/94 Introduction ============ The QuickFigure GPS Tool allows you to import position data from a Trimble ScoutMaster GPS into a QuickFigure worksheet. It requires QuickFigure Pro or QuickFigure Lite version 2.1 or greater. Setting up the GPS ================== Use "Dataport Mode" in the ScoutMaster's Setup menu to turn the Dataport on. In addition, "Reset Defaults" should be set to "Apple Newton." Installing/Removing the GPS Tool =================================== The GPS Tool should be installed on the Newton normally, using either the Newton Connection Kit or the Newton Package Installer. It is an auto-part, so it will not appear in the Newton's Extras Drawer. However, it will appear under "Remove Software" as "GPSTool:donv". To remove it, open the Extras Drawer and select "Prefs" and "Memory" and tap "Remove Software." Select "GPSTool:donv" and accept the warning dialog which will appear. Using the GPS Tool ================== To use the GPS Tool, follow these steps: 1. Connect the Newton to the GPS. 2. Open QuickFigure on the Newton. 3. Select two cells in the same row. 4. Tap on the ñToolsî button in QuickFigure and select ñGPS Tool.î The GPS tool will take a position reading from the GPS and insert the latitude into the left cell and the longitude into the right cell.
