Welcome to Borealis Home Inspector, the first home inspection software that 
completely runs on the Newton. No desktop computer is needed. (MP2000 is 
required)

This is a FULL version of Home Inspector, limited only by it's ability to print 
the Buyer's inspection. The inspection report will be filled with a gray 
background. The non DEMO version will not contain the gray background and will 
print MUCH faster.

Borealis Home Inspector feature set:

- Ability to print the inspection on site.
- Ability to fax the inspection report from the Newton.
- Ability to export the inspection report from the Newton to a Mac or Windows 
machine in an RTF format. (Windows 95 required)
- Ability to enter client info:
		  - Dwelling address
      - Client name, address & phone#
      - Real Estate agency name & phone#
      - Doctype (limited to Buyer's for Demo)
			- Listing Agency name
			- Inspection date
      - Inspection document #
- Inspection is broken down into categories and each category is further broken 
down into steps that are individually rated.
- The ratings available are : (Hazardous, Non-Functional, Marginal, Lacks 
Maintenance, Comments, Functional, N/A (not applicable), NV (not visible).
- The ability to skip around between categories and steps/components during the 
inspection to rate them when you need to.
- Each category step/component (sub-category Ex. "Walks") has the ability to 
select:
      - multiple material types/locations
      - saved boiler plate comments
      - new comments can be added
      - rating of that step/component: (Hazardous, Non-Functional etc.)
- Ability to customize each steps/component's comments into saved boiler plates 
that are modifiable by the inspector on the fly.
- Any category not opened will not print on the inspection report.
- Ability to have a summary/overview of all the comments entered as a last 
review.
- Ability to print individual categories for specific inspections or just to 
print over a category when a mistake is discovered.
- Ability to include Category comments that print at the end of each category. 
These are usually comments that are general to that category and not specific to 
a step/component.
- Ability to include your own specific legal text in the report.
- Ability to include a custom 3 lines of company text at the bottom of each page 
of the report.
- Ability to file the inspections by the inspectors preference using the 
Newton's filing feature.
- Ability to use the Newton's Find feature
- Ability to have over 100 inspections on the Newton at a time.
- Ability to backup/recover and archive the inspections on a PC card or desktop 
Mac or Windows machine.
- Ability to enter General comments for the inspection that do not fall under 
any category. This prints out on the Cover page of the inspection report.

This demo package does NOT come with:

- Newt2Mac: (optional Mac software that lets you export the inspection report to 
your Mac in RTF (Rich Text Format) which can be read by most word processors.)
- Newt2Win: (optional Windows software that lets you export the inspection 
report to your Mac in RTF (Rich Text Format) which can be read by most word 
processors.) Windows 95 required.

Borealis Home Inspector Example Instructions:

Once you have installed the Home Inspector pkg you need to create the default 
boiler plates.
  - Launch the Inspector app.
  - Under the info button "i" select "Prefs".
  - Select the "Load Default Comments" button.
  - A progress thermometer will come up while it is loading the comments.
  - When it is done close the Preferences slip.

The "Show" button is how you Navigate between the 4 slips in the Inspector 
application.
1. Select the "Inspection Setup" under the "Show" button.
   - Here you enter all the inspection information: dwelling address, etc.

2. Next select the ""Inspection Detail" under the "Show" button.
   - This will list all the inspection categories.
2.a. Select the first category "GENERAL PROPERTY INFO"
   - A list of all the steps/components for that category will appear.
2.b. Tap on the "--" in the first step "1.Main Entry Faces".
   - This will bring up the materials slip for that step.
2.c. Check the "North" checkbox and close the slip. 
2.d. Skip down to "7.Weather" and select the "--" and check "clear" and close 
the material slip again.
2.e. Tap right on the name of the step "7.Weather" to bring up the comment slip.
2.f.  From the Comment slip select the "Comment list" button in the upper 
righthand corner and  select "Temperature:". 
2.g. "Temperature " will be inserted in the comment slip text area. Tap after 
the text to place the insertion caret and then write in "70¼". 
2.h. Close the comment slip and then close the category "GENERAL PROPERTY INFO" 
slip.

3. Select the second category "GROUNDS, STOOPS & STEPS".
   - A list of all the steps/components for that category will appear.
3.b. Tap on the "--" in the first step "16.Walks".
   - This will bring up the materials slip for that step.
3.c. Check the "concrete" and "dirt" checkboxes and close the slip. 
3.d. Select the "Marginal" rating under the Rating picklist under the diamond.
  - A comment slip will automatically come up.
3.e.  From the Comment slip select the "Comment list" button in the upper 
righthand corner and  select "view obstructed by". 
3.f. "view obstructed by " will be inserted in the comment slip text area. Tap 
after the text to place the insertion caret and then write in "heavy snow.". 
3.g. Select the "Add->" button and your new comment will be added to the Comment 
Picker list for this step. It will be available each time you are in this step 
doing an inspection.
3.h. Close the comment slip and then close the category "GROUNDS, STOOPS & 
STEPS" slip.

4. You repeat this for every category and step for the inspection.

5. Once you are done doing the inspection you select the "Summary of Comments" 
item from the "Show" button.
  - This will show you a list of all the comments you have entered for this 
inspection.
5.a. Select the "16.Marginal- view obstructed by snow.' line item.
  - You will automatically jump to the associated comment slip.
5.b. Scrub out "snow" and replace it with "debris" and close the comment slip.
   - The comment is changed in the comment summary list.

Printing.

6. Select "Print Inspection" from the Routing button (looks like an envelope) 
  - Brings up the print slip
6.a. Select your printer and select "Buyers Report" from the "Format" picklist 
and select "preview" or "print" to see the inspection report.
6.b. The "Buyers Cover" report includes the definition of the ratings and the 
General Property Info that was entered in the first category.
6.c. The "Buyers Legal" report and contains the Inspection Setup info and the 
legal text.

Prefs

7. Prefs in the "i" button is where you enter your legal info and the 3 line 
footer info.
