PowerRecorder turns the Newton's power switch into a record button. PowerRecorder

will give you single finger control to record voice notes without even opening

the cover of your Newton. This is great when you need to record thoughts when you

are in your car driving or other situations that you can't be bothered with

creating a new notepad recording slip.



PowerRecorder is based on time on and off. If you turn your Newton off then on 

or on then off within 2 seconds then PowerRecorder starts recording a voice note. 

The normal user action is not to turn your newton on and off every 2 seconds.

 

PowerRecorder works like this...

    1) You are driving in your car.

    2) You have an idea.

    3) You pull down the power switch (turns on Newton) and you pull down the power 

    switch again (this time PowerRecorder stops the Newton from being turned off 

    and starts recording).

    4) The little Recording window is up and the next time you pull down on the 

    power switch the recording window will close, PowerRecorder will create a new 

    note for you with the recording, and the Newton will go back to sleep.

 

PowerRecorder also works if you have the Newton on...

    1) Your Newton Alarm Clock goes off at 6:00am.

    2) You have an idea for a new project based on a dream you were having.

    3) You pull down the power switch (turns off Newton) and you pull down the 

    power switch again (this time PowerRecorder starts recording).

    4) The little Recording window is up and the next time you pull down on the 

    power switch the recording window will close, PowerRecorder will create a new 

    note for you with the recording, and the Newton will go back to sleep.



New 1.2 Feature:

	Toggle the Recorder with the keyboard. Cmd-Shft-R will toggle on and off the 

	voice recorder.

How To

1. Install PowerRecorder.pkg.

2. Pull down on the Power switch. (You might need to pause 1 second before step #3)

3. Pull down on the Power switch.

4. After the beep you can talk into the microphone

5. Pull down on the Power switch. (Turns off recording and creates a new note)



This procedure works whether the Newton is on or off. If the Newton is starting

from the off positions you need to be a little slower when performing step #3.



You will notice that "PowerRecord" is to the right of the recording bar where a

time usually is located. After the first time you play back the recorded note

this will change to the length of the recorded note.



PowerRecorder can also be activated by tapping on the icon in the extras drawer.

If you want PowerRecorder available at all times drag it into the button bar.



To activate PowerRecorder with the keyboard press command-shift-R.
